Legendary East Islip High School Girls Bowling Coach Harold Cooley passed earlier today, suffering a fatal stroke. Cooley had been the coach of the girls bowling team at East Islip High since 1985 and an inductee into the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
Cooley has won 20 League and nine county titles, took the New York State championship three times and his teams have enjoyed countless undefeated seasons, including a 5 year stretch from 2004-05 thru the 2008-09 season.
Cooley himself graduated from East Islip High in 1972 and touched the lives of countless Long Island bowlers. He's a stalwart in the Long Island Bowling Community and will be forever missed.
